The trimmer string's lack of flexibility is simultaneously it's greatest and worst characteristic. I'll get my wife in it this morning so I can see it and take a photo. Reaching around the head end, I could not feel any scalloping or gaps of any kind. For now I'm attributing this to the 3/32 nettles and the goofy setup at the foot end vs 1/16 at the head end. Strangely, I didn't feel it at the head end at all where it passed just above my shoulders, it seemed to be quite comfortable. I don't mean just an awareness, it was the kind of 'feel' that I wouldn't want to experience all night. I could feel the end of the quilt that passed under my legs. Of course any impression that is tainted by a poor setup is at best viewed through squinty eyes.

A real hack for sure! As expected it didn't work very well, but it did allow me to get in it for an intial impression. The only cord I have left on hand is 3/32 and 1/8 (I have 200' of 1/32 silver/gray on order) and I didn't want to cut either for such temporary use so I looped back and forth in one long length. Last night curiousity got the best of me and I just HAD to try hanging the quilt so I could get in it. If you try this, please post some pictures. I ran out of quilts to install this idea on, but my duct tape prototype turned out pretty good! If you have a differentially cut quilt, it wont make any difference. In addition to getting rid of scallops, it also spreads out the lines of force a bit, which is important for sewn-through designs like costco quilts. This method avoids sewing on additional material, using burn holes, cutting fabric, or installing grommets. It looks a bit strange, but it is actually the easiest attachment method so far (in terms of manufacturing). The Waffle Clasp uses KAM snaps to button down the fabric of the quilt itself to hold the cord, yet expose it at regular intervals to attach to the nettles.

The problem is attaching the cord itself to the quilt. The basic concept here is to attach the clew nettles to the quilt using a heavy cord like the navy hammocks did.
